You have bought a car privately and it has no rego. A registration has lapsed while the car sat in the driveway. A deceased estate needs clearing, or a project car has to get to a workshop. In every one of those cases the vehicle has to move without being driven, and that is exactly what the tilt tray is for. We collect from Blacktown, Riverstone, Penrith and anywhere across Greater Sydney.
There are two ways to move an unregistered vehicle in NSW. One is an unregistered vehicle permit, which Service NSW issues and which carries conditions, including the vehicle being in a fit condition to drive. The other is to carry it. If the car will not start, is not roadworthy, or you would rather not deal with the paperwork, putting it on the tray sidesteps the question entirely.
It does not matter whether the car runs. A non-runner is winched onto the tray, strapped through the wheels and carried level, the same as a car that starts first go. Flat tyres, seized brakes and a missing key all change how we load it, so tell us on the call. We move cars to a wrecker, to storage, to a buyer, or to the workshop doing the restoration.

Do I need an unregistered vehicle permit if you carry the car?
A permit is for driving an unregistered vehicle on the road, and Service NSW sets out what it covers and the conditions attached to it. When the vehicle travels on our tray it is not being driven, so for most customers the question does not arise. We are a towing operator, not a licensing service, so check anything specific to your vehicle with Service NSW.
Can you move a car that has not run in years and has flat tyres?
Usually, yes. Flat tyres, seized brakes and wheels that will not turn all change how we load it, so tell us before the day and we will come prepared. If we are not confident we can get it out of where it sits, we will say so on the call rather than turn up and fail.
Can you take the car straight to a wrecker?
Yes, once you have arranged it with them. Give us the yard name and address when you book, and tell us who is signing the vehicle over. We carry it there and unload it. Anything to do with the sale, the paperwork or cancelling the registration stays between you and them.
