Four-wheel drives, utes and light commercial vehicles are most of what breaks down out here in western Sydney, and our tilt tray is set up to carry them with all four wheels off the road.
That matters more on a 4WD than on a hatchback. Towing a constant four-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive vehicle with two wheels still turning on the road can cook a transfer case or a centre differential, and on many dual cabs the handbook says not to do it. Carrying the whole vehicle on the tray sidesteps the argument: nothing in the driveline turns, so nothing wears out on the way home.
Size is the honest limit. Our truck is a 10.4 tonne GVM tilt tray, and that figure counts the truck as well as the load, so a dual cab with a steel tray, a bull bar, a canopy and a full load of gear eats into it faster than most owners expect, as does a long-wheelbase van. Call with the weight and the shape
Make, model, whether it is a dual cab, a wagon or a van, and what is bolted to it: steel tray, bull bar, canopy, roof rack, long-range tank. Tell us what is loaded in the back too, and the rough weight if you know it.

We confirm we can carry it
If the vehicle is heavy for its size or long in the wheelbase, we say so on the call. Then we give you the price and a realistic ETA for right now, rather than a number of minutes we cannot stand behind.

How heavy a 4WD or ute can you carry?
Our truck is a 10.4 tonne GVM tilt tray, and GVM counts the truck as well as what is on the tray, so the number that matters is the weight of your vehicle. The large majority of dual cabs, wagons, utes and vans sit comfortably inside what we carry, including well loaded ones, but a heavily fitted out rig with a steel tray, bull bar, canopy, water tank and tools climbs faster than people expect. Tell us the weight when you call and we will confirm before we head out.
Can you move my AWD or full-time 4WD without damaging the drivetrain?
Yes, because we do not tow it on its wheels at all. On a tilt tray the whole vehicle is carried, so the wheels, transfer case and differentials never turn. That is the reason a flat deck is the usual answer for an all-wheel-drive or constant four-wheel-drive vehicle. Tell us the make and model on the call so we know where the tie-down points are.
My ute is stuck off the hard surface. Can you still get it out?
Sometimes. It depends on the ground, the slope, and how far the winch can reach from somewhere our truck can safely stand. A vehicle bogged in sand or deep mud a long way off a solid surface needs purpose-built recovery gear instead. Describe the ground and the access when you call and we will give you a straight answer either way.
