The North Shore runs along the Pacific Highway from North Sydney up through Crows Nest, St Leonards, Chatswood, Gordon, Pymble, Turramurra and Wahroonga to Hornsby, with Mosman, Neutral Bay and Lane Cove off to the sides. It is hilly, leafy and full of driveways that drop sharply from the street. Getting a North Shore tow right often comes down to where the truck can sit safely on a narrow, sloping street. From Marsden Park the M7 feeds directly onto the M2, so Macquarie Park, Lane Cove, Chatswood and the lower end are a clean motorway run for us, while Wahroonga and Hornsby are further again and we say which one you are before we set out.

The Warringah Freeway, the M2 and the Lane Cove Tunnel are patrolled by incident response, who will move a stopped car clear of the traffic lanes first. On the Pacific Highway, Epping Road and Military Road, turn into a side street if the car will still roll. If it will not, hazard lights on and wait on the footpath side, away from traffic.
